Breakfast in hotel – civilised start
Birding in nearby scrub for
spectacled parrotbill but nada – sp fulvetta; collared finchbill, bb bulbul, lt
rosefinch,
Birding nearby reserve – road blocked
and entrance forbidden; birding difficult because of running river – slaty
bunting, speckled wood pigeon [lifer], lb & claudia’s leaf warbler, vt

Birding enroute – owl call – mix spp

Lunch – self heating rice at a cold
high pass – rosy pipit, chestnut kesslers thrush, pr parrotbill, spotted bush

Road blocked for hours [warned until
5pm] – snacks, road side gym, birding river. Wc forktail, russet sparrow, bb
leaf warbler
Left earlier – 4-30.
2 ½ hour drive to hotel – stops –
search for owl – unsuccessful; crested
kingfisher – unsuccessful, [dipper] deer called but not stopped for, Chinese
goral but not seen well.
Dinner – drunken welcome from park
director.
Basic Chinese meal – ok but not too
spicy!
Drunken Chinese guy – nuisance as we
got to our rooms.
