Day 5 - Wednesday 1 June 2016

the road on which we walked...
Today I woke up poorly. The kind of poorly that moving more than 25 metres from a toilet involves considerable risk. So feeling poorly in such a fashion I decided that I would have to give up my bouncy seat on a pot holed road with the rest of the crew. Ray decided that he, too, would stay behind.

After the rest left about 6am I finally surfaced about 8 feeling much better, thank you very much so decided to go for a few strolls around the greater hotel area both before and after lunch. Our cunning plan was to walk for a couple of km and then hitch back and both times it worked a treat. And the birding, although characteristically slow was quite good. Ashy throated Parrotbill showed briefly. Black-naped Monarchs did a fly by a couple of times. Common and Large Hawk Cuckoo appeared high on lines – putting a face finally to their calls. Yellow throated Bunting and Grey backed Shrikes were new for the trip and lifers. We got good views of a Brown Bullfinch pair.  Red-billed Blue Magpies were seen a few times and we got very nice views of Yellow bellied Tit – a lifer from a couple of days ago.
